Julie Fairhurst

Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, EMDR Consultant, Clinical Supervisor and University Lecturer.

I am an EMDR Consultant and CBT Accredited Practitioner, Clinical Supervisor and CBT Trainer. I offer psychotherapy from a tranquil and beautiful setting in rural Lancashire, utilising the natural running stream and the beautiful gardens to provide a healing environment to reset and heal the mind and body.

I am passionate about interweaving brain and body-based techniques founded in neuroscience to help people understand how problems have developed and are maintained and therefore how to process historical trauma and break unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaving that lead to sustainable change. Some of the brain and body based techniques include somatic experiencing and movement and Internal Family Systems.

I am accredited with both the BABCP (British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapists) and EMDR Association UK. I also provide Clinical Supervision for other qualified CBT Therapists and trainees.

I have 15 years of experience working within Mental Health Services as a CBT therapist. My experience spans both non-profit organisations and the NHS. In that time, I have been a Clinical Tutor, Supervisor of trainee clinicians, a Peri-natal Clinical Lead and a Clinical Supervisor for Mental Health problems due to Long Term Physical Conditions.
